Prince Harry: Eyes Pole to help injured

London (Global Adventures): Britain’s Prince Harry hopes that he can participate in a 300 mile (483 kilometer) trek across the Arctic. The four-week record-breaking journey will be the first unaided attempt by disabled soldiers to reach the Geographical North Pole.

“You will be glad to know that if my military commitments allow me I would love to join the team,” he said during a press conference in London. The 25-year old royal is a patron of the campaign “Walking With The Wounded” that wants to raise $1.5 million (1 million Pounds) to help rehabilitate wounded servicemen and woman.

Accompanied by expert guides, a team of eight ex-soldiers who lost some limps on the front lines plans to reach the North Pole from Siberia across the frozen Arctic Ocean. Each participant will have to pull a sled with more than 240 pounds of equipment. During the expedition, the team will have to endure cold temperatures of up to minus 58 degrees.

The third in line to the British throne currently trains to become a helicopter pilot with the Army Air Corps.
